Barclays Bank must think we are complete idiots! The sheer arrogance of their advertising.

By Rowan Bosworth-Davies: Barclays Bank, one of the UK's leading criminogenic banking institutions, took a full page advertisement on the back page of the Sunday Times, asking the unbelievably trite question 'Does your bank have free wi-fi in its branches? Make Barclays your bank".

What complete and utter bollocks!

What is it going to cost Barclays to extend Broadband to the public sectors in their branches? Why on earth would Barclays think that any sensible person in their right mind would be persuaded to bank with this flaky bunch of rogues, just because of the offer of a free wi-fi connection?

We have to examine this advert in the full context of the wrongdoing that Barclays has carried out in recent times, and we have to ask ourselves how great their arrogance has become, when they clearly believe that all they have to do to make themselves attractive to new customers is to offer them free wi-fi?

German Banksters Owe Reparations Say Greek Lawmakers

UPI: Greek lawmakers say they want Germany, Greece's main banker, to pay reparations for Greeks killed during World War II.
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' government has created an 80-page report on reparations it believes it is owed by Germany, which includes a huge, never-repaid loan Greece was forced to give Germany under Nazi occupation from 1941 to 1945, The New York Times reported Saturday.
Although the government has not given an official total owed, the figure most often discussed is $220 billion, which is about half of Greece's total debt.
Samaras said he has given the report over to Greece's Legal Council of State, which will decide whether to put together a legal case or handle settlement negotiations.
"I can see a situation where it is politically difficult for the Germans to ease the terms for us," said a high-ranking Greek official, who wished to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak on the issue. "So instead, they agree to pay back the occupation loan. Maybe it is easier to sell that to the German public."

'Feminist logic' Stay Safe = YOU DESERVE RAPE!

Thunderf00t: I recently put up a video which suggested that rape, as with any other risk in life, can be modulated in part by the potential victim. To many this would be a bit of a no-brainer, in that who could possible say 'taking self defense classes has no effect whatsoever on your chances of being raped.'
I had figured this would be an uncontroversial and sensible appraisal of the situations. However I reckoned without 'feminist' reasoning. Here, merely suggesting that women can through their choices, modulate their chances of being raped, means that I am a 'rape apologist'!

After Snatching Olympics, Japan Suddenly Admits Fukushima Not “Under Control,” Begs For International Help

By Wolf Richter: The fiasco in Fukushima has been hobbling from cover-ups to partial revelations ever since the three reactors have melted down after the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. The owner of the power plant, TEPCO – famous for its parsimoniousness with the truth and lackadaisical handling of the fiasco – always pretended that the situation was under control. Until September 13. Only six days after the IOC had made the decision to let Tokyo host the 2020 Summer Olympics, TEPCO admitted that Fukushima was “not under control.”
There’d been a barrage of assurances to the contrary, from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on down. On September 5, Tsunekazu Takeda, president of the Japanese Olympic Committee and great-grandson of Emperor Meiji, was in Buenos Aires to work the IOC. Afterwards, he told reporters: “Now, Tokyo is very safe.” In fact, “the water, the seafood, and also the radiation are absolutely safe.”
He pointed at the government’s decision to step in and do something – no one yet knows what – about the massive amount of groundwater that was being contaminated on an ongoing basis with radioactive materials and then leaked into the ocean, a fact that inconveniently blew into the open before the IOC decision.

Thoughts on the Silk Road Raid, “Trolling” the FBI, and the Future of Bitcoin

By Michael Krieger: Before I get to the humorous FBI trolling story referenced in the title, I want to write a few overdue paragraphs about the whole Silk Road affair and the future of Bitcoin. The garbage that was being emanated from across the internet about what would become of Bitcoin in the wake of the news that the feds has arrested the founder of the Silk Road, Dread Pirate Roberts aka Ross Ulbricht, represented the height of ignorance. As soon as I heard the news, witnessed the price plunge and heard the hyperbole being spewed by commentators I tweeted:
The ignorance of people saying this is “game over” for Bitcoin is astounding.
and
This is game over for the most successful online illegal drug market. It is not the end for Bitcoin. Other nations will take the lead on BTC.
I also said I’d be happy to take Bitcoin donations in light of their sudden so called “worthlessness,” and I told folks they could send some to LBK’s Bitcoin donation wallet. Unfortunately, no one took me up on the offer.
