A Father Talks With His Son About Eric Garner

The Dissident Dad: I hate that I have to teach my children to be vigilant when it comes to the police. My overall message is that they should be respectful, but to never trust them.
Imagine a group of people surrounding someone who isn’t doing anything violent or disruptive. All this person wants is to be left alone and mind his own business. The gang surrounding him, instead of minding its own business, jumps on him, chokes him, and then proceeds to smother him against the concrete until he dies. If you haven’t already figured it out, this really did happen. To Eric Garner. On July 17th, 2014 he was choked to death while attempting to have a conversation with the police.
The police officers themselves allege that Eric Garner was selling individual cigarettes tax-free, a non-violent act between consenting adults. This right here is exactly why you can never trust a police officer; because even when doing his job, he may in fact be enforcing unjust laws. Police officers also use violence with government immunity. It should come as no surprise that the officer who murdered Eric Garner isn’t going to be charged. Look at the organization he works for. Statists regularly steal money, threaten violence to anyone who doesn’t comply with their demands, and memorialize leaders who bring about death and destruction to the human race.

Hamas Praises Irish Parliament For Palestine Vote

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has commended the Irish parliament for a vote in favor of acknowledging a Palestinian state.
Orwellian Zionist Shill UK Regulator BANNED Press TV: Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said on Thursday that the Irish parliament's move is an important step forward.”
He also said that the recognition is a positive international and political development.
This comes as Irish Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan said on Wednesday that his country was considering an early recognition of Palestine as an independent state, despite opposition from JSIL (Israel).
The Irish foreign minister made the remarks in parliament in the capital, Dublin, after lawmakers approved a non-binding motion regarding Palestinian statehood.
The motion agreed by Irish lawmakers called on the government to officially recognize the State of Palestine, on the basis of the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital, as established in United Nations resolutions, ” Flanagan noted.
Although the government is not bound to follow the motion, Flanagan said Dublin has “always supported a viable two-state solution and will continue to support that in any manner and by any means.”

Universal Suffrage In The UK

He who controls the past controls the future.
He who controls the present controls the past.
Orwell, 1984
By mra-uk: I have not conducted a poll but I feel fairly sure that to most people the phrase “universal suffrage” would be taken to mean “votes for women”. The popular belief  may be summarised thus: (i) before the suffragettes women did not have the vote, (ii) before the suffragettes men already had the vote, and, (iii) the suffragettes won women the vote. All these beliefs are faulty, if not downright incorrect.
The principal misunderstanding which I wish to expose is that before World War 1 the main barrier to women being granted the vote was not the absence of support for the idea amongst (male) politicians. On the contrary, there was widespread support within the Liberal and Labour Parties. The main barrier to female enfranchisement was the fact that men had not yet achieved universal suffrage.
The true history of universal suffrage is the history of the working class struggle, not a gendered issue at all. The graphic which heads this blog tells the true story. With a suitable historical perspective, the bulk of men and women achieved the vote at much the same time.
Belief (i)
If attention is confined to just the parliamentary vote, then (i) is almost correct. Even then, since the parliamentary franchise prior to 1918 was based on property, it is possible that some women (rich widows, perhaps) might have voted, though the numbers would have been very small. Of greater importance, though, were the local parish elections. Women voted in parish elections, and held local office, as far back as the early Victorian era (and perhaps earlier though evidence is scant), Refs.1,2.

Why the #YouOKSis “White Feather Campaign” Failed … Badly

Of all our studies, history is best qualified to reward our research. Malcolm X
By : With summer 2014 now firmly in the history books, it’s a good time to review some of that season’s biggest “stories” on the sexual politics front. Fortunately for us, our sistahood’s feminist contingent never fails to disappointrecall summer 2013’s tempest in a teapot involving Professor Hugo Schwyzer, for example. Great job, ladies!
So, what was this summer’s “big story”? Well, to let Feminista Jones, the Amazonian “sex-positive” third-waver from the Boogie Down up in NYC, tell it, it was the “epidemic” of “street harassment,” dontcha know—and her solution?
To “call on” (read: cajole, shame, demand) brothas to “police” other brothas, to intervene whenever they spy a sista out and about being “harassed” by another brotha, by “simply” (heh) going up and asking said sista in distress(?), “You OK, sis?” Jones was able to drum up a bit of media attention for her bright idea, which culminated in a feature appearing on the Black-themed News One channel, and some social media buzz came along for the ride. Ultimately, though, the whole thing fizzled out before summer was done and instead wound up alienating not just (Black) men but quite a few (Black) women as well—for example, I got wind of her Twitter beef shooting war with Tariq Nasheed via a Black female follower of his. None of these developments came as a surprise to your humble correspondent;

14 Facts That Prove That The Number Of US Children Living In Poverty This Christmas Is At A Record High

By Michael Snyder: Did you know that 65 percent of all children in the United States live in a home that receives aid from the federal government?  We live at a time when child poverty in America is exploding.  Yes, the U.S. economy is experiencing a temporary bubble of false stability for the moment, but even during this period of false stability the gap between the wealthy and the poor continues to rapidly expand and the middle class is being systematically destroyed.  And sadly, this is having a disproportionate impact on children.  This is happening for a couple of reasons.  First of all, poorer households tend to have more children than wealthier households.  Secondly, most people tend to have children when they are in their young adult years, and right now young adults are being absolutely hammered by this economy.  As a result, things just continue to get even worse for children living in this country.  Here are 14 facts that show that the number of children in America living in poverty this Christmas is at an all-time record high…
#1 The National Center for Children in Poverty says that 45 percent of all U.S. children belong to low income families.
#2 According to a Census Bureau report that was released just this week, 65 percent of all children in America are living in a home that receives some form of aid from the federal government…

“Almost two-thirds (65 percent) of children,” said the Census Bureau, “lived in households that participated in at least one or more of the following government aid programs:

Greek Stocks Crash, Default Risk Spikes After PM GREXIT Comments

Tyler Durden's picture Just 2 short months ago we noted S&P's warning that Greece will default again within 15 months and following comments by Prime Minister Samaras that the market's drop is due to fear that Syriza will win an early election and seek a Greek exit from the Euro. Pressuring parliamentarians and the public alike, he stated "the choice is simple," warning that Greek financing needs are only covered through the end of February without further aid from the EU (but we thought they were 'recovered'). Greek stocks have crashed further, Greek default risk has spiked, and 3Y bond yields are now well north of 10% (138bps inverted to 10Y).

As Bloomberg reports,
Greek PM Antonis Samaras says country’s financing needs covered until end-Feb, in comments to lawmakers of his party in parliament today.

Rolling Stone Rolls Over

By : Rolling Stone magazine was birthed in 1967, named after an amalgam of bitter, dissident artistry from the likes of Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, and, of course, The Rolling Stones.
Literally bursting from the emotional and intellectual heart of Haight-Ashbury, the magazine carved its way into the American consciousness with an inside track to the new, revolutionary music scene and began hefting cultural influence with scathing political commentary from Hunter S. Thompson.
It quickly became the iconoclastic temple of a generation at once “dropping out” yet determined to rebuild something better. I remember days when the latest edition and a cigar box full of Mexican weed were coffee table essentials.
As the hippie generation heaved its last breaths and gave way to gaudy clothing, horrible music, and a more superficial ethos, RS wandered into a transparently commercialized focus on pop television and other things “of interest” to young people.
Eventually, more intensely political material returned to its pages, but the acerbic cutting edge was gone, replaced by a mindless rubber stamp for mainstream establishment politics as defined by the American left.
That is not an indictment of the left, but just another epitaph that looms over the grave of objective journalism. The point here is that Rolling Stone sold its soul a long time before it started peddling fraudulent gang-rape clickbait and shielding the hacks who wrote it.
I won’t bother with detailing all the events in this, the latest confirmation of the mistrust of the mainstream media. The story itself has already tested its bandwidth worthiness on a thousand venues. A simple Google query should keep you busy for a month or so.

Torture Techniques Used On Innocent Men After 9/11

By : The Senate investigation into CIA interrogation practices after the 9/11 attacks reopens old wounds and raises questions long ago asked, but never properly answered, about the appropriateness of such techniques in battling terrorism. The current administration prohibits these kinds of techniques, but it, Senator Feinstein, and others concerned about the CIA’s use of torture under the previous administration support utilizing drones to kill enemies. How appropriate is any of it?
These issues are debated by people far better informed than me, but I would make one point. Many folks who are perfectly okay with the CIA’s techniques after 9/11 are assuming that the techniques were used on “terrorists.” In fact, the Senate report reveals about one-fifth of the men imprisoned were wrongly detained, and some were subjected to the enhanced interrogation techniques (President Obama called these techniques brutal):

13 Reasons Women Lie About Rape

By Two sensational rape stories in the media have brought to light the question of false allegations, prompting many to wonder just why a woman would lie about rape. In her memoir, Lena Dunham claims that she was raped by Barry, a flamboyant, well-known campus Republican, but her story does not hold up under scrutiny. Jackie, the woman at the center of the Rolling Stone profile on Greek culture at the University of Virginia, claims to have been gang-raped, but the discrepancies in her account resulted in the magazine backing away from the story and questioning Jackie’s credibility. We do not know if either of these women has made false allegations, but false allegations of rape can and do happen. Here are 13 reasons women lie about rape.

1. Women lie about rape to cover up their infidelity.
One night, Nicola Osborne got a bit drunk and ended up in bed with a man and they enjoyed “extensive sexual activity.” The episode was entirely consensual and the two swapped phone numbers after they were through. On the way home, it occurred to Osborne that her husband might not think very highly of her “activities” and she became flustered and visibly upset. When passers-by came to her aid, she told them that she had been forcibly abducted and raped by a stranger, sparking a massive police response to find the rapist. A subsequent DNA test led police to the man whom she had slept with and he was arrested and held for 12 hours. Once the truth came out that the encounter has been consensual, Osborne was charged with filing a false report and sentenced to 18 months in prison.  Women lie about rape to cover up their infidelity.
2. Women lie about rape to explain why they are looking at porn.
